United Way of Santa Rosa County is actively addressing the growing need for prescription drug coverage this flu season through a partnership with the FamilyWize prescription drug program.
Easily accessible and free to all, insured or not, the FamilyWize discount is available for all qualified prescriptions. No application is needed and there are no eligibility, income, age or residency restrictions. Through the distribution of discount cards since 2010, United Way of Santa Rosa County (UWSRC), its partner agencies and participating pharmacies saved Santa Rosans more than $145,000 in prescription drug costs.
“The beauty of this program is that there are no income limits,” said Marianne Back, community projects coordinator for United Way Santa Rosa. “This discount card benefits anyone who wants to save money, which is great for our residents. No personal information is collected and the card is valid nationwide.”
FamilyWize discounts cannot be used in addition to insurance prescription coverage, but can be used instead of insurance covered prescription. This discount covers additional prescriptions that Medicaid and Medicare do not cover. Funding for the program is provided by part of the processing fee included in the cost of medicines and by in-kind donations, as well as reduced costs provided by program sponsors and participating pharmacies.
To access the FamilyWize prescription discount, contact First Call for Help at (850) 983-7200, or pick-up the cards at the United Way Santa Rosa County office at 6479-A Caroline Street, in Milton.
